      My Classroom Friendly Supplies sharpener came! I am so excited! All I have done is sharpen pencils! And, they are so sharp!!! I mean, really...check out the pic!! Ok, I know, I sound like a total nerd, but this sharpener is really THE BOMBDIGGITY!!

On another note, did anyone have today or this week off? Our students have the whole week off for mid-winter break. Our county gave us back 3 furlough days, which I'm thankful for, but they gave them to us smack-dab in the middle of mid-winter break!! Boooo!!!!! The staff gets Monday and Friday off! I guess that's better than nothing!

       Well, I finally did it!  I broke down and bought one of the pencil sharpeners from
Classroom Friendly Supplies!  My pencil sharpener at school is a beast and we have such a hard time with it... so I decided to just order it!  I can't wait to receive it!  I have heard absolute raves about it!

Progress Reports...'Nuff Said

      It's progress time again and oh, how I HATE LOVE dislike strongly completing them!  Our midterms are narratives so with 26 little sweeties in my class, they take forever!  We have a template that we use to type into Excel.  It's not hard, but takes a looonnnggg time! 

      Our end of quarter reports are not as lengthy because each skill can be completed for all students at one time.  No biggie...     

      Now, I guess I need to get back to them!  I just needed a little break!  :)

     Happy Super Bowl everyone!  It's a little quiet here at our house.  No parties and no kids.  The hubby likes to stay home and watch in the peace and quiet.  They boys have gone to a Super Bowl party at church.  This year, I'm not really feeling the teams so...I'm on the computer!

      It's been a while since I've linked up with Farley for Currently...so here goes!

LISTENING - The Super Bowl is on and I hear it, but as far as knowing what's going on...I have NO idea!!

LOVING - My hubby is awesome, and I am so very blessed to have him!

THINKING - I really need to finish start my lesson plans.

WANTING - We just had a new HUGE, Kroger open and it has a Starbucks in it.  Trust me, that is BIG-TIME for our little town!  This thing even has a furniture section in it!!!

NEEDING - I have this great student teacher coming, but this is just her second field experience so she is not totally ready to fly yet.  She still needs lots of guidance!

PET PEEVES - I cannot stand tapping!  I don't like the sound of tapping!  I don't like to be tapped.  No pencil tapping, no feet tapping...just no tapping!

That's enough for now! I guess I really DO need to get those lesson plans going!

Where, oh where has this blogger gone?  
Oh, where, oh where could she be?

       I really have NO excuse, except that life got in the way...Oh, nothing life shattering, just life.  I should have had plenty of time since I finished up my masters degree in the summer.  Lots of extra time, right?  Well, I found plenty of things to fill that time! 

   

     Learning the new Common Core standards and incorporating our state frameworks into it has been really easy really kicked my boo-hoo!!  Plus, we have two new administrators and have been trying to keep up with them.  I know, I know...excuses, excuses!!  I have missed you guys and I hope to do better!

     On another note...Does anyone do the Rigby assessment?  This has replaced the Houghton Mifflin Assessement that our school has done in the past.  I was asked to help train some teachers at our school to administer it.  I really do like it.  It is a bit time consuming, but I think that the information gained is very informative in helping teachers form their small groups for guided reading.  It gives you an indication of their accuracy level as well as their comprehension level.  From completing the Rigby, my reading groups have changed somewhat and I have had some students completing some independent study activities.  At first, I was just having them complete some different activities that I already had on hand, but then I came up with some menu-type activities that I could use on a rotational type basis.  They have really loved them!  Some of my other students are asking, "When can we do independent study," which, of course, is awesome!  I have not used them with any other group other than my top readers.  They are reading on high 4th and 5th grade level, but they could be used with any students.

  

 Hope you can use this in your classroom!
