It's Monday and I am linking up with Flying into First Grade to get acquainted with fellow bloggers.  Each Sunday, she plans to have a new topic.

     This week you must:
Sharing 3 things about yourself that you like or like to
do using your initials.

     My initials are RFH so...

R - Reading and Reality TV.  I really like to read.  Some of my favorites are the Harry Potter series, the Hunger Games series, and anything romantic!  I don't get as much time as I would like, but during the summer, I hope to catch up!!  Also, I really like reality TV.  I'm somewhat ashamed to say that, but Survivor, Amazing Race, etc. are some of my favorites!

F - Friend.  I am a good friend.  I will be your biggest cheerleader.  I am loyal.

H - Happy.  I am happy, happy, happy with my life.  My family and friends are very important to me. And, I can say I love my job! Many people cannot say that!

Now, head over to Flying into First Grade and "get acquainted!"  And, don't forget to visit the two bloggers ahead of you and either comment and/or follow!

Five for Friday time!!!

Happy Friday y'all!! I'm soooo glad to see the weekend!! We have had a great week, but -WOW! - I need some down time! And, since it's Friday, I am linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for her great Five for Friday! It is such fun seeing everyone's week in review!

So, here's mine!

1.  Last Saturday, our school participated in a Math Madness competition.  It's the first time we have participated  so we weren't really sure what to expect, but I think all who participated really enjoyed it!  Ten students were chosen from each grade level (1st-5th).  They were coached using questions from the common core.  On Saturday, each grade level had 70 kids per grade level!  Students were seated two to a table with a white board, given 5 tickets, and were read the question twice.  If they missed a question, a ticket was removed.  Competition continued until just 5 students were left.  I'm so proud to say that one of my 2nd graders was one of the top 5!!  He was so excited, and so was I!!!!
This is how is was set up on the high school gym floor.
There were only 7 left at this time.  Some are not pictured.
(Notice those gray shirts?  Those are my sweeties!)

I wish you could see his little face!  He was SO excited!!

2.  Here's my baby catching for his high school 9th grade team!  I'm so proud of him!  We've spent lots of time at the field this week!  And tonight, he got the call to move up to the JV team, so he is super stoked!

3.  We've been studying author's purpose so we used this cute little PIE to help.  I found this on a blog a couple of years ago and I have no idea where so if you know, let me know so that I can give proper credit!

4.  This week, I linked up with Denise at Fifth in the Middle.  She has an awesome linky where you can link up with bloggers from your state.  That is great because I have so often wondered where my blogging buddies were from.  It's also great because you can find others in your state and connect with them!  Once you link up, you can grab the blogger button for your state!  Easy-peasy!!

5.  I have been seriously wanting some snow here in middle Georgia, but with no such luck... And, since we haven't had any snow, I decided to create a little myself!  I had my students write math story problems, four to a page, cut them apart, and wad them up.  I didn't tell them what we were doing at first so you can imagine their surprise when I told them we would have a snowball fight!  We would snowball fight and then they would have to go and solve one of the problems thrown.  We played several rounds and they loved it!  That may be the only snow we get this year so I hope they did!
(I did take pictures, but completely forgot to bring the camera home!)

That all for now!  Head over to link up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for all the Five for Friday posts!

Till next time!

Currently...Can you believe it's March already?!?!

I mean seriously - Weren't we just yesterday shouting, "Happy New Year!"  and kissing our honey at the stroke of midnight?  Wow!  Time is really flying by!!  And, with a new month, along comes a new Currently. I am linking up with Farley for another fabulous linky!
I am currently listening to The Celebrity Apprentice.  My sweet husband LOVES this show.  I'm not really sure what it is, but for whatever reason, he loves it.  We're also DVRing the mini-series about the Bible for watching later!

We started baseball season in 30 degree weather with small, small small snow flurries.  During our many cold games in years past, a friend starting bringing a sleeping bag to get in.  Well, that was going to be my ticket for staying warm!  Friday night, we went and bought a new sleeping bag.  Saturday, while everyone else was freezing, I was snug as a bug in a rug!  We have several more cold games this week so I am set!

I really do need to get off the computer and go to bed!

I need a SNOW day!  Here in the south, it is so rare and far between that snow days are something to be loved!  We love to see just a soft blanket of the white, fluffy stuff at least once a year!

Can I get an AMEN?????  I would love to have not one, but two magic fairies that could help me with home projects as well as school projects.  I would wear out just one way too much!!

I like...roses.  I mean they are beautiful, right?
I love...rainbows.  They remind me of God's amazing creation and His promises to me!
I hate...roaches.  EEK!  We sometimes see them at my school and we could seriously saddle one up and ride it!  EWWWW!!!!  YUCK!!!!!

Now, head over to Farley's and link up!

Well, that's it for now!  I hope y'all have a great week!

Till next time!!

Oscar Night Sunday...AND a FREEBIE!!

Whoooo's watching the Oscars??  My favorite part of the Oscars is totally watching the Red Carpet pre-Oscar show!  I love to see all the beautiful dresses!
Who's best-dressed?
Who's worst-dressed?
So far I love Jennifer Chastain, Anne Hathaway, and Jennifer Lawrence!  I didn't really see any that I loathed.  For the most part, I thought everyone looked really good!
What did you think?

I've also been working while watching the Red Carpet.  I've been working on a tiered math game for my students.  It is called Perfect 100, Perfect 500, Perfect 1000, or Perfect 5000 based on what your students need.  The Perfect 100 is great for your little sweeties that need extra support.  The Perfect 500 is great for your on-level students, and the Perfect 1000 and 5000 is for your students working above grade level.  Of course, that's how it is for me.  :)  You may need to use it differently in your classroom.  I've provided a little FREEBIE to get you started!  Plus, you get the number cards for your deck of cards!  Just click on the picture to take you to the FREEBIE!!  The rest of the tiered levels are in my TpT store.  Hop on over to grab your tiered games for your class!

I hope you have a great week!

Till next time!

Five for Friday

Normally, I would be happy, happy, happy that it was Friday, but it has been mid-winter break here for the kiddos.  Teachers got Monday and Friday off, but had to work Tuesday-Thursday.  Kinda weird, but it did give us time to work in our rooms and get some planning done.  That's always a plus, right?

This week, I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for Five for Friday.

1.  In my previous post, I talked about my new pencil sharpener from Classroom Friendly Supplies!  I absolutely LOVE it!  I've had show and tell with my co-workers this week and they are ordering too!  I should get some credit for that!  Don't cha think?!  Ha!

2.  I have this slight HUGE obsession with my iphone.  I also love all things girly so I bought this app called Wall About It.  It creates CUTE monogrammed wallpapers for your iphone.  Love, LoVe, LOVE!  Here are a couple of my favorites:

3.  My son made our high school baseball team!  He was on the team last year as an eighth grader so there wasn't much doubt that he would make it this year, but it's always exciting to get your new gear!  They got their batting practice jerseys, hat, batting gloves, team t-shirts and shorts, and cleats.  Of course, all of it had to be inspected and tried on!  I'm so proud of him!

4.  My oldest son's car had to have a new engine put in so he got his car back this week.  The sweet guy was bringing my class pizza for our Valentine's party when the car died!  It's been a hard week going from a three car family to a two car family even if it was just for several days.  He commutes to college so we had to arrange for him to get to his classes as well as to work.
(I didn't take a picture of the engine!  Should have!  It cost enough!)

5.  For the past two weeks, we have thought that my sweet, precious hubby had prostate cancer.  A friend of ours, who is a urologist looked at his paperwork and asked, "You haven't changed your name, have you?"  We never even looked at the name!  We couldn't take our eyes off the diagnosis!  We are beyond happy and thankful to God that it is not his diagnosis, but have definitely been praying for the man whose paperwork we received!  The other problem is that this practice gave out another man's information and really have no remorse for it.  And, where did my hubby's information end up??  Anyhow, we are thankful beyond measure, but some things are still going to have to be resolved with the doctor's office.

Well, those are some of the highlights from my week.  There have been some ups and downs this week, but I'm always thankful for the life that God has given to us!

I hope your week has been amazing!

Till next time...
