Sunday Funday Let's Get Acquainted {Week 4}

First of all, I hope y'all have had a great week and a fantastic Easter!  It has been a beautiful day, well, the whole weekend has been exceptionally beautiful!  I hope you have been able to enjoy it as much as my family has!  My cousin has created this amazing piece of artwork to commemorate the first Easter!  It is beautiful...check it out HERE!

It's that time again- - - - - - - - LaToya at Flying into First is having her Let's Get Acquainted weekly linky!  It has been so much finding new blog friends and learning so much about them.  I hope you've had as much fun as I have had these past few weeks.

This week's party involves a few of your favorite things  ♪ ♫.  Can you hear that tune??  That's one of my favorite songs!

Favorite Place to Shop

I LOVE this place!  I could look there all day long.  My crew HATES it when we go, but I have to get my fix in shopping there every now and again!

Favorite TV Show

This is one of those guilty pleasures I'm ashamed of!  I really wish I didn't like it, but it's always on my record list...

Favorite Sweet Treat

For a really special treat, my favorite dessert is the banana cream from The Cheesecake Factory!  Yummmmm!  For just something quick and ordinary, I like peanut butter M & M's.  Another yummm!

Favorite Food

I love crab and shrimp! Two of my favorite things!

Favorite Restaurant

This WAS my favorite restaurant, but sadly it burned a couple of years ago and I don't think it is going to by rebuilt!  It was located in Panama City Beach, FL.  It was called the Treasure Ship and I could get my favorites of crab and shrimp!  It was on three levels, they had pirates wondering around, and it was right on the waterfront!  Absolutely beautiful!

That's it for this week's fun linky!  Now, it's your turn to head over to Flying into First to link up!  Don't forget to visit, comment, and/or follow the two bloggers ahead of you!

Till next time!

Let's Get Acquainted {Week 3} AND...Truth Revealed!

Ok, so as promised, I will reveal my lie from LaToya's fun linky

1.  I was born in South Dakota!

TRUTH!  My dad was stationed in South Dakota and I was born there!  Brrrrrrr!  Way too cold for this  Georgia girl!  Our family is all from Georgia so when my dad got out of the Air Force, back to Georgia we headed!

2.  I have DiEd before!
TRUTH!  Scary, but true.  This happened while we lived in South Dakota.  I had horrible asthma...so horrible, that they originally thought I had cystic fibrosis.  I was in the hospital A LOT!  Once, while there, I coded, and had to be resuscitated.  God had other plans for me! And, I am so glad!  I love my life!

3.  I won a scholarship to play a sport at my alma mater!
LIE!  I am by no means athletically inclined!  My middle name should be Grace because I am such an utter klutz!  So no, there was definitely NOT an athletic scholarship in my past!

So, there you have it - 2 Truths and a Lie!

Now, for this week, I am linking up again to play LaToya's Noun Game!

This one is fun too!  You just name your favorite person, place, thing, and animal!  Easy, right?

                                                                    PERSON
My all time favorite person in the world is my sweet husband!  He and I have been together since I was 15 and he was 16 so I've been with him for many, many years.  He is an absolute treasure to me and I totally feel like he is my soul-mate!  The funny thing is that he and I both are only children so it's a wonder that we even get along at all!!

                                              PLACE
I love being at home with my family when we have absolutely nothing to do!  It is so rare that it really is so nice just to be home!  We are usually running from here to there with our sons' activities, church, friends, etc. that a time at home is a treat!  I'm sure y'all can relate!  I also LOVE the beach, but that's not always possible!  :)

                                                                       THING
I have this slight obsession with my iphone!  I had been a total android user and loved it, but there were some drawbacks that really annoyed me, like the s l o w n e s s!  Man, is the iphone fast!  I love it!  I'm not sure why I ever went with droid in the first place now!

                                              ANIMAL
Wow, this one is hard!  I love animals so much!  I guess, I will go with a giraffe!  They are just so cool!  We went to this wild animal park where you drive through and I think that is where I fell in love with them!  We got to feed them and get slobbered on by them!  That was pretty gross, but they are just so adorable!  In a close 2nd would be the tiger!  They are absolutely beautiful!  And, in 3rd would be a dolphin!  I could go on forever!  LOL!

Well, that's it!  Head over to Flying into First to link up so we can learn more about YOU!

Till next time...

Friday Flashback & Five for Friday!

Whew!  This has been a week and I'm so glad that it's Friday!!!  I only worked four days this week, but WOW, it felt long!!  Anywho, since it's Friday, you know what that means!  It's Five for Friday and Flashback time!!  I love being able to look at everyone's week in review!  It's just plain neato to see everyone's ideas and classrooms!

I didn't get to participate last week because I was sick, sick, sick with strep!  Ugh!  I had forgotten how terrible it makes you feel!  Since I didn't get to post from that week, I'm going to go ahead and kind of combine the past two weeks and hit some of the highlights.  :)

1.  Our school has really been focusing on science and social studies this year with an emphasis on completing STEM projects.  Our project that we decided to complete for our unit on matter was to create a hot air balloon.  The information can be found here:  Children's Engineering.  This is a great site to get you started on having your students complete STEM projects.  They had an amazing time creating their hot air balloons.  I didn't get any pictures of us actually testing the balloons as I had to be in charge of heating the air with the hair dryer!!

2.  Pokemon had taken over my classroom!  My oldest son loved these when he was smaller, but for some reason, they have made a comeback!  I let my class bring little toys and such that they can take outside for recess.  They know that if I see them at an inappropriate time, I will put them in my "May Bag," meaning 'They won't get them back until May!'  I never have any problem with them being out at inappropriate times! During recess, I have this little huddle of students (boys and girls!) who are comparing their cards!  They love it!!
Do your students have anything they are obsessed with?

3.  Even though it is now springtime, we have hit a bit of a cold spell.  Nevertheless, I have been in search this week for some cute sandals.  When the warm weather comes, I want to be ready!  I LOVE sandals!   I have had NO luck though in finding them so the search continues...  Wish me luck!

4.  I feel like this week, I was finally able to get back to a normal schedule.  With having to give our benchmark assessments and doing the make-ups, our schedule has been all out of whack!  Even though I was out Monday, the week seemed to fall right back into place.  Ahhhh...a schedule!  It's amazing how just a few days off schedule can make the normal sweeties into little not-so-sweeties!  Are your students like that too?

5.  March is Music in Our Schools month and our fabulous music teacher has all sorts of great activities set up for the students.  She has song-writing contests, art contests, musical guests, and so much more!  Today, we had one of our school board members come in and play the saxophone!  It was sooooo good!  I had no idea he played and as the music drifted down the hall, I thought it was a recording!  The kiddos had already written thank you letters to our board members this week because it's also School Board Appreciation Week!  (Did you know that existed??) Anyway, they were so excited when they found out that they had just written a letter to him!

That's it for tonight, but I'll be revealing my LIE from LaToya's linky over at Flying into First in my next post!  You can read about that HERE:

Let's Get Acquainted Linky

It's Sunday, and Latoya over at Flying into First is having a fun linky called Let's Get Acquainted.  Today's topic is:

2 Truths and a Lie

     This should be fun, right?

Here's how it Works:

Think of 3 things about yourself or your life.  You should make 2 of them truths and 1 of them a lie.   You can list them on your post in any order.  Do NOT give the answer yet in your post.

People will try  guess your lie in your in the comments of your post.  So remember to be very creative so that it is hard for people to get it right.

At the end of the week you can share the answer in your comments from the post or include it in a post you make at the end of the week.

So.....here are my 2 truths and a lie.

1.  I was born in South Dakota!

2.  I have DiEd before!

3.  I won a scholarship to play a sport at my alma mater!

So what do you think?  Which one is a lie???

Try to guess in the comments below and I'll let you know at the end of the week!
  Happy Guessing!!

Midweek Laugh...

Happy Wednesday!  This week seems to just be dragging right along!  I hope yours is moving faster than mine!  Ha!!
I'm stopping in tonight to share with you a bit of a funny.  As teachers, we hear many, many things from the mouths of our sweeties...everyday...all day.  It reminds me of this ecard I saw on Pinterest.

Funny Teacher Week Ecard: If you only believe half of what your child tells you about school, we'll only believe half of what they tell us about home.

Anyway...I have one sweetie that is constantly tardy.  Totally, not her fault, but it's like 4 out of 5 days she is tardy.  At our school, when a student is tardy, a parent must come in and sign him/her in in the computer.  They have to put in a reason for the tardy and a little sticker prints out for the teacher.  Most of her stickers say, "Car trouble," or "Woke up late."  Well...today's reason topped them all.  She walked in with her little sticker, I told her good morning, looked at her sticker, and literally Laughed Out Loud!  I couldn't help but laugh!!!

"Our clock is not the same as y'alls"

Really?!  Seriously?!  Then, if your child is consistently late, check your clock and get them to school on time!

Sooooooo........

What are some funny things that have happened or kids
have said in your classroom?

Till next time...

Five for Friday time!!!

Happy Friday y'all!! I'm soooo glad to see the weekend!! We have had a great week, but -WOW! - I need some down time! And, since it's Friday, I am linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for her great Five for Friday! It is such fun seeing everyone's week in review!

So, here's mine!

1.  Last Saturday, our school participated in a Math Madness competition.  It's the first time we have participated  so we weren't really sure what to expect, but I think all who participated really enjoyed it!  Ten students were chosen from each grade level (1st-5th).  They were coached using questions from the common core.  On Saturday, each grade level had 70 kids per grade level!  Students were seated two to a table with a white board, given 5 tickets, and were read the question twice.  If they missed a question, a ticket was removed.  Competition continued until just 5 students were left.  I'm so proud to say that one of my 2nd graders was one of the top 5!!  He was so excited, and so was I!!!!
This is how is was set up on the high school gym floor.
There were only 7 left at this time.  Some are not pictured.
(Notice those gray shirts?  Those are my sweeties!)

I wish you could see his little face!  He was SO excited!!

2.  Here's my baby catching for his high school 9th grade team!  I'm so proud of him!  We've spent lots of time at the field this week!  And tonight, he got the call to move up to the JV team, so he is super stoked!

3.  We've been studying author's purpose so we used this cute little PIE to help.  I found this on a blog a couple of years ago and I have no idea where so if you know, let me know so that I can give proper credit!

4.  This week, I linked up with Denise at Fifth in the Middle.  She has an awesome linky where you can link up with bloggers from your state.  That is great because I have so often wondered where my blogging buddies were from.  It's also great because you can find others in your state and connect with them!  Once you link up, you can grab the blogger button for your state!  Easy-peasy!!

5.  I have been seriously wanting some snow here in middle Georgia, but with no such luck... And, since we haven't had any snow, I decided to create a little myself!  I had my students write math story problems, four to a page, cut them apart, and wad them up.  I didn't tell them what we were doing at first so you can imagine their surprise when I told them we would have a snowball fight!  We would snowball fight and then they would have to go and solve one of the problems thrown.  We played several rounds and they loved it!  That may be the only snow we get this year so I hope they did!
(I did take pictures, but completely forgot to bring the camera home!)

That all for now!  Head over to link up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for all the Five for Friday posts!

Till next time!

Currently...Can you believe it's March already?!?!

I mean seriously - Weren't we just yesterday shouting, "Happy New Year!"  and kissing our honey at the stroke of midnight?  Wow!  Time is really flying by!!  And, with a new month, along comes a new Currently. I am linking up with Farley for another fabulous linky!
I am currently listening to The Celebrity Apprentice.  My sweet husband LOVES this show.  I'm not really sure what it is, but for whatever reason, he loves it.  We're also DVRing the mini-series about the Bible for watching later!

We started baseball season in 30 degree weather with small, small small snow flurries.  During our many cold games in years past, a friend starting bringing a sleeping bag to get in.  Well, that was going to be my ticket for staying warm!  Friday night, we went and bought a new sleeping bag.  Saturday, while everyone else was freezing, I was snug as a bug in a rug!  We have several more cold games this week so I am set!

I really do need to get off the computer and go to bed!

I need a SNOW day!  Here in the south, it is so rare and far between that snow days are something to be loved!  We love to see just a soft blanket of the white, fluffy stuff at least once a year!

Can I get an AMEN?????  I would love to have not one, but two magic fairies that could help me with home projects as well as school projects.  I would wear out just one way too much!!

I like...roses.  I mean they are beautiful, right?
I love...rainbows.  They remind me of God's amazing creation and His promises to me!
I hate...roaches.  EEK!  We sometimes see them at my school and we could seriously saddle one up and ride it!  EWWWW!!!!  YUCK!!!!!

Now, head over to Farley's and link up!

Well, that's it for now!  I hope y'all have a great week!

Till next time!!
